Zeus (his identity hidden by a mask) sleeps with the mortal Semele. She demands to know which God she's in bed with. In the moments just after this scene, Zeus lifts his mask which incinerates Semele but not her unborn, half-god fetus which Zeus implants in his thigh where he carries it to term, giving birth to Dionysus months later. The graphic approach here uses enhanced color, smoothed texture and a rough hewn edge.
